Default 48 rear shocks on Nightster?

Hi all, I’m looking to upgrade the shocks on my 2008 Nightster.
I’m hoping for advice on if rear shocks from a 2nd gen 48 will fit?
The length is the same at 12” but I think they’re better spec and progressive.
Thanks for any help. 🤞

After you have experimented by perhaps forking out for a couple of sets of shocks and viewed a few articles on rear suspension you may come to conclusion that I did; not only do you need to get the correct spring rate that matches your weight allowing you to set the correct amount of sag but also they need separate damper adjustment. The expensive ones will have compression and rebound damping the less costly ones will only have rebound damping.

I'm not sure what your budget is but I think you can do bit better with an aftermarket, like these Progressive shocks for your Nightster. They have 3" of travel and sits like an 11 1/2" with proper sag.

Thanks guys. Totally agree with what you say but I’m trying to do this on the cheap.
These are the 48 shocks I’ve seen, used for around 3000 miles.

I think these ride better than Progressive brand shocks anyways.. Especially for the money. I took 12" 412's off of my bike and literally had to throw them away because I couldn't sell them for 50 dollars. They rode so stiff. They weren't the cruise series though so maybe those are better idk

The ride is terrible at the moment. There’s no sag at all when I sit on the bike, even backed off fully. I guess they were set up for a PO who was double my weight!
I can get these for around £100/$120

The seller has measured them at 12”, the same as mine. They were the stock shocks that came with the bike new.

That's peculiar...my 2016 Forty Eight original factory shocks are 11". Is 12" perhaps a Euro spec?

Yes that’s odd. He did say his was a 2nd gen 48, with mag wheels rather than spoked. Maybe that’s the difference.

I’ve been trying to cross reference shocks to see if the same shock is listed for both bikes but there’s very little out there to fit the 48, or I’ve not found much anyway. I haven’t found one manufacturer that lists shocks for both bikes.
