How to set timing???
first 2000 883 converting to 1250...new cams, big valves...
I am putting it back together and need to set the static timing..it looks like there is a LED on the (stock) ignition module for this....I have the manual for the bike....there are 3 marks on the crank first has one dot second has 2 dots and third is a vertical slot ground into the crank....which mark do I use...book doesn't say anything about what mark or the light on the module (unless I just can't find it)...
thanks, guys/gals

The dots are front cylinder advance marks. Those will be no good as you need slightly retarded ignition timing on a 1250 build (28 to 30 degrees max). The easy way is to just back off the timing by rotating your module a little bit and take a guess at it. The best way is an upgraded module that is set to a 28 to 30 degree max and and can be timed on any Sportster crank regardless of 883/1200 advance marks.
