Default 160 tire for 3" wide 16" rim

ok so i got a set of the 13 spoke mag rims with the 16" rim thats 3" wide. I know the Metzler 160/80/16 fits but there on backorder. my question is who else makes a tire that size that will fit? Avon has a tire that size but they say it only fits 3.5-4.5". will that fit on a 3" rim? its the same size tire so...

So I tried to measure the rim and it looks like its 4" wide. But from what I've found online its 3" wide. Can anybody confirm what the rim size is?

Are you measuring inside or outside dimension? Inside is the proper dimension.
A 3.5" rim is the smallest I would run a 160 on, not saying you will, but it is a possibility that in a hard curve a wide tire on too narrow of a wheel will roll off the bead, which could lead to catastrophe.
A 160 (6.3") is slightly more than double the width of a 3" wheel.

We got the Avon Venom 160 size mounted on a 3.5 and it looks great, not cupped up and all tread is still usable even on the chopper. I am gonna use the same tire on my FXDX mags ( 3.5 width) which is the same wheel you are speaking of.

A bit off topic, but...

I was running a 150 Metzeler and this last tire swap I changed to a 150 Avon Venom. The Metz was 5/16" wider than the new Avon is. My conclusion, I'll order a 160 Avon next round.

Check out the Pirelli Night Dragons. They are made to fit Harley rims. They make a 180 for 16" rim. Pirelli owns Metzler.
