2005 superglide Oil Change HELP
New Harley owner here attempting my first oil change. Underneath the bike there are 2 plugs on the drain pan and i removed them both and oil came out of both. One of them was on the bottom and a lighter (cleaner oil) came out and the other was on the Side and that was clearly the used motor oil. My question is what did i drain on the bottom plug and how do i fill it back up? It appears the two bolts are on the same "tank" so i am a bit confused....please help. Thanks

the oil fill is the the big plug on the right side that you can remove by hand and the transmission is a few inches toward thee back of the bike and will be a large allen bolt, it will also have a dipstick on it. My 06 superglide takes one quart in the tranny and two and a half in the motor oil. They dont mix and are not in the same pan, evan though it appears that way. any hd shop can give you the proper fluids for both

You fill your crank case through the hand removable dip stick and the tranny through the plug on top of the tranny that uses a hex socket wrench. Fill the tranny with the bike upright and the crank case with the bike on the jiffy stand. Use 20-50W Synthetic V-Twin oil in the crank case "Some put the same in the tranny" or use Synthetic 75-90W GL-5 gear oil. Don't over fill. 2.5qts in the crank case and 1qt in the tranny.
Edit: Check the tranny fluid while on the jiffy stand also.
