largest size front tire for a 05 Fatboy?
Sorry if this has been posted, I tried a few searches - largest front tire fatboy, fatboy front tire and did not come up with anything.
What is the largest size tire that can be mounted on the stock front rim (I think it is a 3x16)
I looked at the metzler guide and I know for the rear with no mods a 160 is the largest but what about the front.
Stock is a MT90 (5.35 wide and 25.31 tall) can a 130/90 (5.59wide and 25.87 tall) or a 150/80 (6.02 wide and 25.43 tall) fit?
Anyone with pictures?
Thanks

I replaced the pizza cutter on my '05 'Train this past winter with a 16x3. It's actually a stock rear rim, but same difference. I believe the '05 softails all have 16x3 rears so theoretically a Metz 160 will fit. Unfortunately, Metz doesn't make a 160 front, so I went with a 150.
As far as fitment with the forks, plenty of room. If you plan on retaining the stock fender, the fit with a 150 will be very tight. Might have to do some grinding on the return lip of the fender to make it work. I have a used fatboy fender I'm planning on chopping up, might try to work on it today. I'll throw it on before I slice it and see what the clearances are.

I was buggerin around in the garage today, and checked the clearances. I mounted the fender up and it clears the Metzler 150, but not by much! There is less than 1/4" between the fender lip and the sidewall of the tire. A bit too close for my taste. But, if you grind off that stupid return lip on the factory fender, then there's gobs of room! I took a couple pics, but they might be tough to see.
