difference between harley davidson mu and mt rear tires
replacing rear tire which is mt90b16 402 hd but manual says mu85b16 i bought my 08 street glide used just want to know why old owner insatalled a mt90 instead of mu85 or should i switch to the dunlop elite 3 thanks for any input
Read the sidewall of your D-402 "mt" 90B16 mounted on the rear of you bike. I think you will find it says...(Front fitment only). Like Glide 2005 said,, MT is front, MU is rear. Go with e-3s, you may be happier with the handling. My 2 cents.

RR.
The MT is a width designation it is 130mm across the tire...The MU is 140mm across It is not a front or rear designation...When I had my sportster I went from a MT to MU on the rear.
Those designations refer to tyre section as well as load rating. MT is 130/90 and has been fitted both ends of dressers for almost always! MT is used on later bikes up front, when MU 140/85 was introduced for the rear.
Fitting an MU to the rear can be a snug fit and when I did it on my bike I had to trim the rubber skirt on the belt guard, although not everyone seems to have to do that. So Yes, DDD, it should fit!
