Question Quick Question: Installing Mid Controls (switching from Forward Controls)

I bought my 07 FXDB with forward controls pre-installed by the dealer. Just decided that I want to reinstall the mids. Right now, the hole in the primary cover has a cap in it (where the mid controls shifter shaft will go through.) On a Dyna with the stock mid control, is there any kind of seal/bushing for that hole? The service manual is a little vague in this area.

I have the shift lever, minus some hardware but I do want to do the job right.

I have the stock parts from my 07 FXDB mid controls, that I took off a few months ago. Let me know if you need anything.

im not a mechanic but i like the choice of you going from forwards to mids. my first street bob had forwards and i rode a friends and it had mids and i hated it.. but after riding dirt bikes for a while i love the mids on my new street bob. they look cool to me too!

Actually, what I was trying to describe was where #12 is, on the outer primary cover. Can you scan that portion of the drawing? Can't tell if that is a seal.... Thx so much!

There is no seal that goes on the shifter arm. It just slides thru the inner and outer primary covers. The #22 gasket is what keeps the primary oil from leaking out thru the shifter hole in the primary. It is probably actually still in between the two primaries on your bike but it doesn't hurt to install a new one.

Found the part I'm looking for, its HD #7078, described as a shifter spacer. But no nearby dealer has it in stock.
