I know that Rev Limiters are put on the bike to keep us from blowing it up, but it seems to me that the bike is still pulling strong when it dies from hitting the limiter. Has anyone increased their limiter? How is this done? I'd like to pull to about 6K on hard up shifts if possible. Would this hurt the motor?

 

The 211 cam must *really* change the power characteristic of the 96. Doesn't the PC-V have the ability to raise the limit?

 

The Stage One download from Harley increases the rpm about 500 rpms as well.

Just a few minutes ago I read Donny Peterson's article in the new American Iron, where he states, "a Twin Cam, or any big twin for that matter, will not rev to 6500 rpm without the valves trying to change holes."

 

The PCV does allow the rev limit to be raised to 6200 rpm.

 

I think at 6700 rpm's or so, the pistons interchange holes as well.

 

If you haave a stage one upgrade, you can run 6200 RPM's (and I'm sure they figure in a margin of safety)

 

Not sure on the PCV but on the PC111 it is easily done. If I remember right just hit control F with the PC hooked up to your computer. A dialog box comes up to make the change.

 

I'll have to look into the PC-V change.

 

The Screamin Beagle ignition module in mine goes to 6200.

 

I may be wrong but when you raise the rev limit with the PC the Tach may stop climbing even though the motor is turning faster.
