How long does it take to dyno a bike?
I just put a stage 1 on my 06 night train, with a power commander III from fuelmotousa. The power commander was mapped by them, but the bike seems hesitant. I have it booked in for a dyno at my local dealership and they told me it will take them anywhere from 4 to 8 hours to dyno it? This seems a little excessive at $100 cdn an hour. Is this legit or are they taking me for a ride. Thanks

I can only go with my recent queries at the stealer. My mech claims to have been one of the lucky few to have recently completed H-D's official Dyno school. Expensive Three day crash course in the trade. he already knew how too, he just happened to luck into the class. I hate to say, but with experience on his side, plus all the data from others runs on similar bikes, which have been stored. He claims theirs no reason for him to have to spend much more than an hour performing a good tune. now whether this is pulling it into the room to removal or just time on the dyno, I am not certain. I will find out as soon as I scrape up some dough!
My $0.02
ps. If you want to know what the Moco told him about inline add on power controllers, all I can say is it wasn't good!

Don't take it to the dealer. Find someone who specializes in tuning Power Commanders and let them do it. A good tune should take about 3-4 hours and should run in the ballpark of $300

my first dyno tune took about 3 1/2 hours, but I am sure it was not all run time or tune time. My bike has been on three other dynos since and all of them were right around and hour.

You have NO engine mods and you're having it dyno-tuned? Man, spend the money on some cams!!!
Everyone should read the article in the current American Iron about dyno-tuning.

Just had mine done 4 days ago. Tech took 5 Hrs and 15 mins. to get the results you see below. Very happy with the tune and bike runs and pulls very hard. Also I checked the milage and I'm getting 41+ mpg.
