Many people ask if My bikes a custom and I tell them no I think they only made softail standards in 2003 right? Whats years did they drop the custom?

 

They made the softail standard alot longer then one year but 2003 might have been the last year they made it I know that was the last year they made the heritage springer

 

I think the Softail Standard was made from 1998 to 2007. They put the wider (200mm) tire on them in 2006.

 

they dropped the softail custom in 2000 and brought it back in 2007...so from 2000-2006 no FXSTC

Oh wow thats crazy..that was many years with no fxstc I guess thats why I see so many standards

I have an 05 standard with a carb, which was hard to find, and a 150 tire (which I like better than the 200). They made a handful of carb'ed standards in 06, to my knowledge they're rare.

 

Last year of the custom before it was dropped was 99. I know I have one.

It has been slightly modified though as I never did care for "skinny front fender" on the softail
so I put a fatboy fender on and 16 inch wheel, among other things.


That was also the last year of the evolution motor for all you history buffs.
It was replaced by that but ugly deuce in 2000 that has also been dropped now to I understand.

 

I love this bike I cant wait to find a EVO softail thats the next bike I buy. I want one from 96 to 99 that way I get the newer style wiring

 

i guess that is what makes it a custom
