Need Review in HD Hybrid 1/2 Helmet
#11
I never bought a helmet until I moved to NC. I had an old beater a friend gave me if I ever needed one. Now I have 6 of them. 4 DOTs and 2 novelty. I sold one DOT already and will sell the others too. The smallest DOT I found has been the HCI 100 series. I'll keep that one, but the others are gone. I've tried all of them except for the ACC and if you want a DOT, this HCI is the smallest I've found. My nephew has an ACC and it's really not that much smaller than the HCI when I compared them.

I wear my novelty most of the time. If anyone wants cheap DOT half helmets, let me know. lol

The H-D helmet has an MSRP of $200, but you can get the Nomad for less than $100.
It's $80 at Amazon in matte black, other colors are less expensive: http://www.amazon.com/KBC-NOMAD-BLAC...0861291&sr=8-5
It's $63 here: http://www.oncycles.com/catalog.asp?pn=HEL00158

Now I'm thinking of keeping the ACC.

I bought two of these http://www.g-max.com/gmax/gm55S.html. One for me and one for the wife. This helmet fits better than any I have tried and it has a retractable sun shield.

I have a hybrid and it is comfortable, but it does look like a mushroom. I recently bought an HCI and it has a much less mushroom effect. I can sell you my HD helmet if interested.

I just bought a GMAX GM-55 and a HCI-100. I ordered the GMAX online size xl.It fits too snug,XXL floats on my head.I bought the HCI at a local shop size xl also, felt comfortable at the store, however after an hour ride I had a killer headache! I may just keep my ACC helmet because I can't find one that fits as well.

Have an HD hybrid. That spoiler, or whatever they call it, on the back further contributes to its mushroom-ness. It is comfortable in good conditions. Oddly though, while it feels like it sits down well on my head, it's much more prone to wind lift than my CKX 1/2 helmet. Was wearing it as I rode into a headwind on the highway last week and I literally had to tilt my head down & just peek under the visor, otherwise I felt like it was going to get pulled right up and back off my head. I paid full price... regretting it greatly now. My CKX gets it done fine and I'd rather not be Harleyed up in ever piece of gear I'm wearing.
