Check the voltage regulator. Mine did the same thing when it went out. Bike ran fine and always started but would through a low voltage code. I thought it was the battery as well but turned out to be the voltage regulator.

Before you get to serious about it, Check your battery connections and make sure they are tight.

+1 on the battery connections. They must be tight on the battery as well as the ground connection on the starter mounting point.

+1 on that
if those are tight, then the voltage regulator is going out

I have a similar problem but when my lights come on the voltage has dropped to 8, then 15 or so minutes later it will climb up to almost 14 and the lights go away. Or, if I shut the engine off and restart the voltage returns to normal.

Also, the check engine light will come on during or after a start and take 5 -15 seconds to go away. I just had a major service done and the dealer couldn’t find anything wrong with the battery or charging system. I have a photograph I showed to the dealer which shows the lights on and volts down to 8 @ 2,000 RPM. The bike is moving but the speed isn’t clear.
