Can someone please help?

I'm changing the front fork oil in my 2005 Road King. My manual is not too specific- it gives capacities for 2002 and 2001- but not for a 2005. It is the right manual. Is it 11.1 or 10.8 or 9.2 oz.? I can't find it any where.

It is not a cartridge type.

I am going to vacuum the oil from the fork.

Please help.

I changed oil and took the forks apart "Easy stuff"
I cleaned everything and used 11.0 oz and used transmission fluid was the oil of choice

I am a old Motocrosser
HD wants to much money for there oil

 

Why don't you go to your local dealership, purchase new drain screws with gaskets along with the HD fork oil and pour 11.1 ozs into the forks. Do it the right way and for gods sake don't use transmission fluid. Ever wonder why it's called transmission fluid and fork oil ?
Must be a differance in the chemical makeup and viscosity. Do it right, or don't do it at all.

Transmission fluid has been used in forks on motorcycles for at least the 40 years I have been riding, it is the equivalent of 15w fork oil....The fork oil that is in the container I bought at the Harley dealer looks and smells just like...Automatic Transmission Fluid...

I do agree with stroker that you should remove the drain plugs and change the fluid the right way.

Vacuum it out? The wife is gonna be pi$$ed when she cranks up her vacuum...

 

I recommend NEW transmission fluid as the oil of choice...
