Default Help Need jet size "72 xl 1000 Super E

I'm having issue with my 72 1000. I have a super E with a .025 and a .064 main. It hesitates before a 1/4 thottle then after 1/4 thottle it opens up. Any suggestions what jets to use or start out with.

Any help is greatly apprecated

If you go to the S&S website here: http://www.sscycle.com/ you will find an instruction sheet for your carb.

.025 seems a bit lean for an Intermediate jet....Go with a .0295 or a .031. Don't use the Accelerator pump adjuster to compensate for it either! S&S recommends shutting off the accelerator pump when jetting!

That main sounds small too. I use .028 and .064 main and I'm at 5000 ft!

if you look at the spec sheet on s&s website, they recommend a range of .028 to .0295 intermediate and .062 to .068 on the main jet for a stock engine of your size. The .031 you mentioned may be a little rich, especially since you always have warm weather. I've got a 90" stroked shovelhead, which I sometimes ride when it's 30 degrees out, and i'm only running a .0295 intermediate jet. If I were you, i would avoid going too rich, especially in the intermediate jet, as it will destroy your fuel economy.
