Default Spring Solo Seat

Looking to put a Solo Seat with Springs on my '06 Road King.

Has anyone done anything like this?

I did a search, but didn't find anything definitive.

I can find Solo Seats everywhere...just having a hard time finding the kind with springs...like the kind used on the old Knuckleheads.

If anyone can give me a few hints or send me to a link that does this I would appreciate it.

I saw one in Daytona this past Bike Week and I thought it looked real cool.

thanks

Don't have a clue as to where you would find it, but great idea. I bet it looks sick. If you find a place, or pics, post it. I'd like to see how it comes out.

The old style solo seats mounted on a seat post, which our new style frames don't have the provesion for. But if you got the money and the need, Iam sure somebody, somewhere can hook you up

Bounty Hunter! That is it...I actually looked at a couple of cop bikes when I went out to lunch today...nice big seat for my huge a@#%&!

I found a site that does them for Heritage Soft Tails...need to ask if they can fit a Road King.

If all else fails, the Harley dealerships in my area have the city cop Harley contract, I can ask them.

Thanks loads everyone!

I'm actually working on a cop seat conversion for my Ultra right now. I need to figure out some sort of rider backrest, as that is one thing I'm not willing to give up. Been playing around with it on the bench trying to get the HD air fittings to hold pressure, finally gave up and went and bought some compression fittings at Menards, they seem to be holding now. I'm going to try it without the air reservoir tank and see what happens. If I can assemble all of the stuff I need, to include a Sundowner passenger pillion for mama, I'll have the solo seat recovered for the smoother look and my butt will live happily ever after.

I think I know what you want. Check out pages 62 & 63, https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...lassic-62.html, in the "Turn a Classic into a Classic" sticky at the top of this forum. Member pmrod has the kind of setup you describe. He modified some police seat brackets. I sent him some PMs asking about the details of the fab work, but he never replied.

V-Twin manufacturing makes a spring solo seat mounting kit that you can get on eBay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/POLIC...item20b135916c for $170 that looks tempting. What I don't know is if the cheaper panhead style seats will mount to it easily. The one's V-Twin sells to go with it are near $300, but knock off ones on eBay are ~$130.

I bought a cop seat with two inch springs, but it put me up a little higher than I wanted. Let me know if you are interested.

Dave
