RE: painting the inner fairing
I got mine painted, what a difference. Here's the way I did it and saved a bunch of money.
1. Go get a stock piece off eBay (100-150)
2. Get that piece painted at your local auto paint shop. ( 100-150)
3. Install it, or pu$$ out like me and get it put on at the dealer ( 3 hrs. 210.00)
4. Put your stock piece on eBay.
5. My net cost 310.00, the new look, priceless. If you want to put it on yourself subtract the $210 and it cost you about $100.00 bucks

The color is the 2007 Deep Cobalt Pearl.
The only reason I found this local paint shop is one day I was driving by and seen a couple of nice custom painted Street Glides out front. I stopped in to talk to them about the custom paint jobs and asked about my inner fairing. He told me theykeep one inner fairing and cap "take offs" sitting and they would paint it my color and when it was done I could bringmy bikein for the change out that way there would be less down time. Everything working great.

Marvin,
Just had mine RG inner fairing painted as well. Remember, though, that there are more pieces to paint on the Road Glide. Mine was five pieces. Compared to the bat wing of maybe two pieces.

Spend ~$50 for the HD service manual for your bike and DIY.As posted above, buying atake-off inner fairing and cap then selling your own take-off makes the parts a wash cost-wise. A good auto painter can easilyshoot the parts for you, than about six hours of your time and you will have a great mod.
I did '04 Electra Glideabout a month ago along with installing spun aluminum gauges and it's like riding a new motorcycle visually since it's totally different than the OEM.
Requires neither special skills or tools (which is good because I have neither); just an ability to read and follow the service manual's instructions.
