Why not?

The battery is as good a ground as any. When you ground something to the frame, the frame is simply a part of the circuit connected to the battery to create the ground.

Anything that is grounded to the frame could alternately be grounded to the battery and will function properly.

You want your ground wire to be as short as possible, limit the amount of interference.

The thing that gets me is I have ran 2 other amps with same wiring and everything and they were fine....
And both of the RF amps played fine until all of a sudden they started buzzing through the speakers.
speakers aren't grounded I actually rerun all my wiring today before installing the 2nd RF amp just to make sure. But it played for about 35 seconds and started buzzing... I hadn't even touched gains or anything yet. And amp wasn't hot or anything.
