10 Limited 103 upper engine rattle noise

Ok, just how much upper engine rattle is normal ?

It is a real problem at a certain RPM and goes away close to 3K and under a load in 6th
but in lower gears and just over 2K it bothers me a great deal .

THE ONLY thing I've found that bug me about this Limited.

Any one else have this problem, or do I have a problem?

Are you talking about the dreaded ping? Sounds like B Bs in the gas tank.

I think the OP is talking valve train noise. Perfectly normal I'm afraid ;-) Try louder pipes and different cams!

I've not noticed it here...

I have a six week old Limited as well. This is my first Harley and I have more top end noise than I am used to as well. Everyone tells me it is normal sounds. Especially at 2,000 RPM

Glad somebody else confirmed it. I just picked up an '11 RKC and after riding it all afternoon I noticed a decent amount of valvetrain noise between 2500-3000, and it's louder on decels. Started reading up on it and I guess they all do it. It reminds me of a couple old Mopars I had. :D

So changing cams moves the rpm around where it makes noise?

2,000 is lugging the motor.

Mine did not come with the noise canceling exhaust, it was added later and now I hardly ever hear what I assume was valve train noise. You can also try turning your radio up a bit more, that's what I did before the new pipes.
I am sad to report that HD does not have the market cornered on the valve train noise. I have had many metrics that made the same sound.
