Crank no Start
#11
I did the voltage drop and it only went down 1 volt, to 11 volts when cranking.
the only thing I have not replaced is the sparkplug wires....the smaller wire which is around 17 inches reads 5.00 ohms and the longer one which is around 36 inches reads 8.98 ohms. which if i understand correctly they are with in specs.

Interesting because for my bike the short lead can be anywhere between 1750 and 4836 ohms and the long one 4843 to 15420 ohms.
With such a high voltage and very little current I am not sure resistance is a problem. What is a problem is a leakage path where the insulation might be breaking down.

Here is the latest on my bike.....
I bought the new spark plug cables and still no start without boosting.
I went to a friend took my battery to his house and switched by battery for His and His Harley Ultra Classic with a stage 2 right away. shut it off and started it back up four times and it fired right up with may battery.
I took His known good battery "Drag Specialties High performance" and my did not start unless boosted
I may be a minister but WTF! LOL!

I would check everything is tight and clean. I would if a relay has dirty connections? Does your year have starter relay or BCM? I wonder about going point to point on schematic looking for voltage drop.? Wondering about starter too.
The jump pack might raise the voltage a little, over coming a dirty connection
It runs fine all day but not the morning. Morning it will be 12.5, during day when running around it will be 13 something.
Have you checked for spark when its cranking and not starting?

I found a couple of more ground wires in front of the coil which I cleaned yesterday.
I have cleaned every connection I can find and think of.
the battery can be fully charged showing 12.8 volts, when the cranking voltage drops to around 11.4 and fluctuates.
I have checked for spark and it looks nice and blue.
oh, I have checked and cleaned all fuses and relays in fuse panel as well. yes.

I guess I should have been a little more clear...haha
stock as far as no mayour mods engine wise.
I am not the original owner, I am the second owner, the original guy had everything done at Harley shop.
Crap, I did not know that there is a re-initialized process after disconnecting the battery. Thanks for that insight, i will give it a go later today.
